Fourth of July

On the Fourth of July we had people over for American food: Mexican salad, hamburgers, sausages (it is hard, if not impossible, to get American hot dogs in Australia), Miller Genuine Draft (courtesy of our neighbor Martyn), and coke.

Thanks to Andrew and Jane there were sparklers which were quite a hit with the kiddies.  There were your ordinary straight stick sparklers but there were also star-shaped sparklers.

The cat was also a big hit with the kids as well but unfortunately Mickey is not the kind of cat who doesn’t mind being picked up.  So the kids would crowd around him and pet-pet-pet him until he would slink away to hide.  One of his brilliant hiding places was under the skirts of the easy chair with his tail sticking out.  The kids weren’t very good at playing hide and seek so he got away with it.

We weren’t smart enough to start taking photos until after dark with only one exception.  I include the exception with one of the night photos.  Needless to say, the majority of the night photos were not worth looking at, even for people who were there!
