New Zealand: from the air

Taken from the airplane, these few photos are all I’ve seen of New Zealand. We transited through on our way to New York. It was cheaper for us to go to Newark via Auckland, New Zealand, then Los Angeles. The reason for that being who in their right minds would want to travel to Newark that way?
